Honda won the lawsuit against Lifan
The attention-getting Honda’s prosecution against Lifan received first-instance judgment at the end of 2004. Beijing Second Intermediate People’s Court determined Lifan’s infringement of private right of registered trademark of Honda and sentenced Lifan to a compensation of over 1.47 million yuan and stop infringing.

On November 17, 2003, Honda Motor made an accusation against Cao Yawen, an individual seller of Lifan Motorcycle, and Chongqing Lifan Motorcycle Plant and Chongqing Lifan Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. Honda considered that motorcycles produced by Lifan with label of “HONGDA” misled consumers into wrong choice because the label is quite similar with Honda’s famous trademark “HONDA”.
