Viagra Patent Case Entering into Judicial Proceedings

On February 15, 2006, Mr. Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (“SIPO”) of China, said that the case for patent infringement on the drug of Viagra manufactured by Pfizer Inc. entered into its judicial proceedings. Pfizer Inc. filed an administrative lawsuit against the decision made by the Patent Reexamination Board of the SIPO, which declared a null patent of the drug Viagra in July 2004, based on relevant laws and regulations of China.
