WIPO-SIPO Advanced Workshop on IP Management held

On August 25, the Advanced Workshop on Intellectual Property Management, co-hosted by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), was held in Beijing. Vice Commissioner of SIPO He Hua and Yoshiyuki Takagi, the Executive Director of the Global IP Infrastructure Department, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

He Hua pointed out that, Governments should play an important role in coordinating and balancing the benefits of all the parties concerned. Governments should not only protect the rights and interests of innovators but also limit the misuse of IP holders, not only encourage the import of technologies, but also encourage independent innovation and re-innovation after the absorption of imported technologies; governments should not only exert the role of market economy system in resource allocation, but also guide the establishment of favorable IP development environment; governments should safeguard the IP operation order by laws and regulations, and enhance the IP culture construction and create a cultural atmosphere of respecting IPRs.

Yoshiyuki Takagi expressed that, IP management is not only theories, but a way to coordinate the benefits of all the parties concerned while enhancing the effective management of innovative fruits. Yoshiyuki Takagi hoped that all the participants could gain knowledge on innovative achievements management and commercialization.
