The Ninth Trilateral Policy Dialogue Meeting Held in Shaanxi

The Ninth Trilateral Policy Dialogue Meeting (SIPO, JPO, KIPO) was held in Shaanxi province on December 2, 2009. SIPO Commissioner Tian Lipu, JPO Commissioner Tetsuhiro Hosono and KIPO Commissioner Jung-sik Koh attended the meeting, introduced the latest developments in IP, reviewed the cooperation between the three IP offices in 2009 and signed a meeting summary. The meeting summary confirmed 8 cooperation plans between the three IP offices which will be conducted in 2010.

The Trilateral Policy Dialogue Meeting began in 2001. It is an annual officer communication meeting which is hosted by the three countries on a rotating basis. From January to November 2009, Japan and South Korea patent applications occupied 34% and 7% among the total foreign patent applications in China, placing them in first and fourth place respectively. Chinese patent applications in Japan and Korea have increased annually.
